In a joint announcement with major sponsor Baker Motor Company, the Medal of Honor Bowl will be giving away a new Mercedes-Benz to one lucky ticket holder.

Set for 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium, the Medal of Honor Bowl is a premier all-star game the features the nation’s top draft-eligible college football players as projected for the NFL Draft. The game hosts the Medal of Honor recipients and the game’s beneficiaries, the Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, disabled veterans and wounded warriors.

“We are grateful to the generosity of Tommy Baker, Baker Motor Company and Mercedes-Benz to be able to add even more excitement to our game,” said Tom McQueeney, Chairman of the Medal of Honor Bowl game. “One lucky fan only needs to buy a ticket and be in the stands when their ticket number is pulled, and he or she will drive away with a new Mercedes-Benz.”

Ticket prices start at $15 for general admission and $20 for home side general admission. The game’s festivities include 15-to-25 Medal of Honor recipients in attendance, national celebrities, dignitaries and the top NFL-eligible players from across the NCAA football landscape. The game will be telecast live into 76 million homes on the NBC Sports Network.

“With national TV, the greatest heroes in America, future NFL stars, Hall of Fame coaches, the South Carolina State 101 Marching Band at halftime – and now, the excitement of somebody driving off in a new Mercedes-Benz, we believe that this will be the best college all-star game imaginable,” McQueeney added. “We’ll also have hundreds of active duty military, disabled veterans, wounded warriors and reservists as our guests. We want to celebrate American freedoms and those that protect them.”

Baker donated the new Mercedes-Benz as a tribute to the military, as an incentive for fan participation and to honor one of his great friends, Major General James E. Livingston, USMC Retired, a resident of Mt. Pleasant and a Medal of Honor recipient.

The winner of the new Mercedes-Benz will be announced by computer selection at the game’s 2-minute warning, and one must be present to win.
